It was crazy last week – both in our corporate offices and at the warehouse. Halloween is one of our busiest seasons and just as our need for warehouse space has increased, our demand for our amazingly sexy Witch Hat has increased too. In fact the popularity of our hats blew us away. It was utter chaos trying to get more in production in time for Halloween deliveries… in the middle of moving our entire warehouse to a new and larger facility. (Almost twice the size!) We had to figure out how to keep shipping orders during the transition – and keep up the witch hat production to meet the demand. As of yesterday we are happy to report the move is complete and we did it with no down time. We had a few back orders but are pretty much caught up now. Hats off to the warehouse team who have been working 7 days a week to complete this daunting task.
As for the witch hats, we had no idea how popular they would be. This year we wanted to give people the option of creating their own costumes using pretty lingerie they could wear the rest of the year. We know the economy is shaky but people still want and need to have fun. We want to make sure we are giving them value. With lingerie as a foundation, customers can add accessories, hats, wands, boots, riding crops, tiaras, gloves, gauntlets, etc. to create spooky, sexy or innocent personas. It’s here – my favorite time of year. The mornings are getting darker when I wake up. I leave the house early (I’m an obnoxiously bright morning person) and I meet my friends for coffee before heading in to the office. Think “Cheers” in the morning at Venice Beach instead of Boston, and coffee instead of beer. When it’s dark out like this I feel like I’m getting a jump on the world since few people are up, there’s no traffic and the city is blissfully quiet. You only see die hard morning people and the taxi and limo drivers from the nearby airport, who have been up all night, and stop in for a cup of coffee. The weather is still warm but there is a crispness in the air. I love Fall.
I also love Halloween… I love dressing up and getting into fantasy. It’s a time of self –expression and play. Does dressing up like a witch really mean you have a secret desire to be a Witch? Or maybe it’s what the witch symbolizes – a chance to express your dark, sexy side that might not always come out the rest of the year. A cat lets you be sleek, sensual and a bit haughty. (and who doesn’t want to feel a little superior from time to time) A Naughty Nurse can be very erotic, and a Corrections Officer or a Guard let’s you be in control (which can be very empowering if you find yourself being too passive during the rest of the year). Eve of Seduction is the perfect costume if there’s someone you’ve been dying to seduce. Let the costume say it for you. As for the Fairy Princess, think Charlotte in Sex and the City. The ultimate example of innocent sexuality, dressed up in pure, creamy, ivory with satin corset and a sparkly magic wand. But however will you hide the gorgeous cleavage spilling out of your corset, or the hint of curvy legs beneath a tulle petticoat? Who me? Sexy? Why, I wasn’t even trying (wink, wink). Be a Ring Master in your top hat, satin jacquard corset, black leggings and petticoat. With the crack of your riding crop you’ll command everyone’s attention.
