I believe that every girl should own a bodystocking. Not only are they affordable, they are super hot and hug your curves while hiding those bothersome areas you may not want exposed Shapewear for the bedroom? Who knew!

The other fabu thing about bodystockings? They are totally versatile. Layer one under your clothing – pair with a mini skirt or wear as a camisole under a blousy top. The possibilities are endless!

To steal Amanda’s look, try a Rose Lace Bodystocking in black.

Hello All You Divas!!!!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday, and are ready for an exciting New Year.

Speaking of exciting, I was speaking with our favorite customer today. Hey Misti!!! Just to let you know, Misti is a true Diva, and will rock anything she is wearing. But I digress.

So, we were talking, about lingerie and corsets, as usual, and she says, “Hey Cathy, did you know Mariah Carey was on the Ellen Degeneres show wearing your dress?” Of course I said, “What dress?” She said, ‘The Ruffle Garter Dress that you carry at Hips and Curves!”

After our conversation, I went running through the office screaming “Mariah Carey was wearing our dress!!!” Lo and behold, she was right! Although we can’t be totally sure it’s our dress, it sure does look like it!

Leave it to our girl Misti to bring us up to the minute info on everything fabulous. Thanks Misti! You’re the best!!

For all you other Divas, please let us know if you see someone fabulous wear our items. Or, if you have a great idea about a corset, skirt, or dress, let us know. We love hearing from you.

All My Love, and Luck for 2010!!

Driving hybrids, or taking the bus. Recycling everything they can, or reusing what they can. Everyone is trying to do their part.

Well, I am too. I have several reusable shopping bags that I try to use whenever I shop. But recently, I haven’t been using them. To be honest, I find them boring, and not very cute. You never know who you could meet at the grocery store, right?

So, lately, I have been using our absolutely fabulous, Hips and Curves Signature Tote Bag. I love this bag! And I’m not saying this because my boss is behind me This is a great tote for everything.

I’ve used it for my laundry, for a quick trip to a friend’s house, and yes, to the grocery store. I was at my favorite store, Trader Joe’s, minding my own business, picking out my favorite snacks. As I was turning to go into another aisle, this lovely woman walked right up to me and said, ‘That is the cutest bag.’ I replied, ‘Thank you so much’ I walked away with a little spring in my step, saying thank goodness I forgot the ugly bags at home. I don’t know if that woman checked out our site, or ordered one of our totes. I hope that she did!

So ladies, I’m not saying you have to buy our bag, but maybe consider it. Everyone needs some cute in their normal routine.

Like This? Discuss more on our Forum

Hey Everyone!

It’s your ever-faithful Customer Service Diva here to share an inspiring experience with you. (And don’t worry – I checked my soapbox at the door.)

I have to say I love it when I hear from our boys and girls serving our country overseas. So here’s my personal call out to them all: I truly appreciate everything you are doing for me, my family and friends and our country. Because of you, I can live the life I have!

To all you boys overseas, I think it’s so sweet that you are thinking of your girls at home, and sending them things for special occasions or preparing them for your homecoming.

I also love hearing from all of you wives and girlfriends. Sharing the excitement in your calls and emails, because you know your guys will be coming home soon and you’ll be surprising them with something sexy, just makes my day. (Plus knowing that I helped you makes it even better.)

One Army boy called to get some special gifts for his wife. He finally finished his tour and was on his way home for good. YAY!!!!!! He and his wife have a 3-year-old girl, and they also just bought a new house. She was completing the move while he was finishing up at the old house and wrapping things up at his Army base. He ordered the cutest babydoll for her and made sure it would arrive right before he did at their new address. He said it was time for him to finally be a dad and take care of his girls. I loved that!

I hope more of you will get the same opportunity to come home and stay home real soon. Hopefully when your happy homecoming day arrives, you’ll let us help you with all of your intimate apparel needs. (I’m personally looking forward to being here for you with my trusty size chart and a ton of lingerie advice.)

In the meantime, my prayers are with all of you for a safe and speedy return, when you can all go back to being loving husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, and of course, friends.

All My Love!

It was crazy last week – both in our corporate offices and at the warehouse. Halloween is one of our busiest seasons and just as our need for warehouse space has increased, our demand for our amazingly sexy Witch Hat has increased too. In fact the popularity of our hats blew us away. It was utter chaos trying to get more in production in time for Halloween deliveries… in the middle of moving our entire warehouse to a new and larger facility. (Almost twice the size!) We had to figure out how to keep shipping orders during the transition – and keep up the witch hat production to meet the demand. As of yesterday we are happy to report the move is complete and we did it with no down time. We had a few back orders but are pretty much caught up now. Hats off to the warehouse team who have been working 7 days a week to complete this daunting task.

As for the witch hats, we had no idea how popular they would be. This year we wanted to give people the option of creating their own costumes using pretty lingerie they could wear the rest of the year. We know the economy is shaky but people still want and need to have fun. We want to make sure we are giving them value. With lingerie as a foundation, customers can add accessories, hats, wands, boots, riding crops, tiaras, gloves, gauntlets, etc. to create spooky, sexy or innocent personas. Whatever their inner Divas desire!

During our Halloween preview we were inspired to design our own Signature Witch Hat to feature in the Fall Photo Shoot. We wanted something sexy for Halloween, but it had to be elegant, sophisticated and individual as well. This hat was the perfect solution. It could be mixed and matched with anything black – from a long nightgown with under wire cups and a side slit, to a cleavage-enhancing corset worn with leggings, a petticoat or even a pair of black jeans. The hats were all made the same way, but designed to be worn with a personal touch – they can be shaped, wrapped, scrunched, tucked and played with. The tulle is a wonderful medium to create a unique look…from the long black train and shiny satin ribbon down the back, to a beautiful cloud of black tulle spun around the head making the look stylish and mysterious at the same time.

As fate would have it, the hat turned out to be one of our best selling styles. Only we hadn’t manufactured nearly enough. We should have known this due to the success of our other designs, but I guess we’ve been a little busy lately

Our planner came in frantically Tuesday morning asking when the next shipment would be arriving. When we told her there wasn’t another shipment she looked panic stricken. It was at that moment that we had to drop everything, gather the troops, and expedite fabric and supplies to the factory and beg them to get more hats into production on such short notice. When H&C customers want something, we stop everything we’re doing and get to work! We had wardrobe assistants, graphic designers and even Rebecca, the CEO, and her fiancé, Dennis, sourcing hat supplies and delivering them personally to the factory.

It’s about 9:00 PM now, the hats are in production and more than half have already shipped to the warehouse. They still have to be received, but that should only take a day or two at the most. We will make sure everyone who wants one can order it in time for Halloween and for you late shoppers, we have a variety of shipping options!

Order by 12 PM CST on Friday, October 24 (FedEx Ground)
Order by 12 PM CST on Monday, October 27 (FedEx 2nd Day)
Order by 12 PM CST on Wednesday. October 29 (FedEx Overnight)

We want to hear from customers who received the hat. What did you wear it with? How did you wear it? What were the reactions? Were you the hit of the party?

We sent tons of plus size corsets, skirts, shoes and patent styles We were thrilled when we heard that Serena picked the Cinderella Petticoat. She loved it so much that she asked to keep it! How cool is that?!

Rebecca designed the Cinderella Petticoat with the full figured femme in mind. After the success of our short petticoat she wanted a way to glam up corsets even more with a long version. Something that would still look sexy and sheer but keep that aura of mystery. Part princess, part vixen, this long tulle petticoat makes the perfect must-have companion piece for your wardrobe. Your more sophisticated instincts might convince you to pair it with a strapless low back bustier, but if you’re feeling terribly naughty you may want something a little edgier…like an eye-popping lace up plus size leather corset!

Ladies, I have been holding back too long. If I don’t say something about women who wear the wrong size in bras and everything else, I think I might just “bust.” The female revolution in the ‘60s was all about burning your bra. Today, ladies, we have to get back into the bra…one that fits!

Nowadays you can go into just about any department store or specialty foundation shop and get a bra fitting. You can even do it yourself if you are brave enough to pull out that tape measure and not close your eyes. Why, then, are so many of us wearing the wrong bra size? I’m sorry, but 85% is w-a-a-y too much. Did you not see that Oprah episode on the proper “fits” for the…you know?

If your bra is too big to begin with, or it’s all old and stretched out, then your “girls” will be too low. If your bra is too tight around, or the cup size isn’t big enough, then they’ll look like quadruplets instead of twins. And don’t even tell me about your stash of safety pins for your straps—no, you didn’t!

Now, let’s talk about everywhere else. It doesn’t matter if you’re big on top and tiny in the tush, or if you got a thick waist tapering down to skinny legs and all. Whether it’s plus size lingerie, pants, a skirt, or a blouse the right size matters.

Take a good look at yourself, not the Natalie Portman you wanna be in six months or the “you” that you were five years ago before you went all Fantasia. Ladies, listen to what I’m sayin’: Dress your body for the size you are now!

It’s not a crime to go up a size to make sure something fits you. We may not want to do that, but sometimes we have to. On the other hand, we all know that a size 12 in one article of clothing does not necessarily fit the exact same as it does in another. It depends on cut, fabric, garment type and label. Whether you’re shopping in a store, or you’re ordering online, I can just about guarantee that the fit will be different. It’s all trial and error, emphasis on the “trial”—meaning you have to try it on and make sure it fits.

Please, please, please, let’s do this! You know I’m sayin’ this outta love. It’s essential that we look truly fabulous just as we are now.

And remember, no matter what our size is, we’re all beautiful, we’re all sexy, and we’re all amazing!
