Totally agree.. in my country (Indonesia) I have seen so many women whining about their body.. and I've been called to encourage them to love themselves. maybe sounds a little harsh but I said to them, "if you don't like your body, do something about it! but if you can't .. hey.. you still beautiful anyway!" btw, I'm size 20 and I love every single thing on my body!

Great post! It's sad that we're so hard on ourselves. The world is hardly ever as bad as we play it out in our heads. Truth is, most people don't even notice the things that we beat ourselves up with.
For every positive thought we have about ourselves and others, a negative one has to leave to make room.
Thanks for sharing!

"losing the weight" - as i read your piece, wendy, i thought of tennesee williams' classic character from "death of a salesman", willy loman, and how carrying the WEIGHT of the world around broke him. willy sold anvils. yes, and carried them around. did it make him strong? no ... it dis-empowered him and, along with the "world on his shoulders" he carried emotionally regarding his family, et.al., he was a broken man ... it's the same with any person who carries THEIR weight as if it were an albatross, a "LOOK AT ME! I'M LESS THAN! I'M UNWORTHY". and that's so untrue. what about "losing the WAIT"? what are you WAITING for? STOP WAITING for the WEIGHT (or less of it) to DEFINE you! BE who you are TODAY ... and if that's carrying extra pounds? carry it - but carry it strong and beautiful and with pride. BE your best at any size. what ARE you WAITING for? it's NOT about the lbs, girlies ... it's about YOU. be inspired - you are SO worth it JUST as you are.

Wendy,
You go girl - that is some great advice. Even great advice for the less curvy woman of the world. Negativity is an awful burden, draining and stressful - which can add gray hair, wrinkles and lack of spunk.

Thanks for sharing and giving some an awakening to the excess baggage.

Nanc

p.s. Alpacas are still doing great - we're up to 22 now.

THANKS FOR THE CHALLANGE WENDY. I'VE RECENTLY TAKEN A NEW PART TIME JOB. AT 58 YEARS OLD I' VE FOUND LEARNING A NEW CAREER DIFFICULT. I MAKE NUMEROUS MISTAKES AND IT WOULD BE VERY EASY TO TELL MYSELF I WON'T SUCCEED AND THAT MY COLLEAGUES JUDGE ME HARSHLY. HOWEVER, I SINCERELY WANT THIS JOB TO WORK OUT
I START EACH WORK DAY WITH PROMPT ATTENDANCE, ENTHUSIASIUM &
A SENSE OF HUMOR. I HAVE RECRIUTED MY CO-WORKERS TO GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS AND GUIDANCE. TODAY MY EMPLOYER GAVE ME THE ULTIMATE VOTE OF CONFIDENCE: A NAME TAG WITH THE COMPANY LOGO
AND MY NAME ENGRAVED ON IT. IN ESSENCE I'VE GRADUATED FROM "TEMP" TO "PART OF THE TEAM.

THANKS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE, LAURIE

Absolutely! let's drop that weight...pffff I felt a lot of it fall off today when I came home and decided that some of the things I was doing was absolutely fine and if I wanted to take a nap, that was ok! I felt great self-acceptance.

I love that you suggested dropping the self-talk criticism we do for other people as well, dropping all excessive criticism should be on everyone's resolution list... and did you know that you can make resolutions every day?

Love you Wendy!
