Misty’s Dating Adventures Part 2

I had another date this week and his name was Marcus… who I also met on the curvy girl site.  He is a partner at his law firm (sounds exciting, but actually means he never has time to spend with you).  He is a single father, marriage and family minded, a few years older than me, and incredibly intelligent.   Seemed too good to be true, right?  He took me out for drinks and a little dancing in a really cool place downtown, but unfortunately there weren’t sufficient sparks to make a fire.   Also considering he lives in San Diego, is a snorer, and emotionally high maintenance, it was mutually decided to not pursue a second date.

One thing about Marcus that troubled me was that in his profile he listed his body type as average – but in reality he was at least 300lbs.   I wish people wouldn’t misrepresent themselves that way.  I’ve dated stocky/chubby guys in the past, but I think I’m developing a preference for lean and fit guys.   I realize this sounds hypocritical, but if men can have a preference for curvy girls, then I think it’s fair for me to have a preference for fit guys…. We all have our preferences, right?

What do you think?  Is it “sizist” to have a preference in physique?

I don’t think it’s sizist to have a preference. What bothers me is the reverse thinking when it comes to big men as compared to big women.

Plus-size women, especially in the plus-size community, are referred to as healthy, curvy or as being “real” women. While big men are called chubby, stocky or XL. The stereotype is becoming that a fuller figured woman is more natural, while a bigger guy is just fat.

It seems that the “size acceptance” movement really only applies to women. We praise Keely Shaye-Smith because she shows off her curves in a bikini and landed a hot guy like Pierce Brosnan. Yet, if Jessica Biel showed up on the red carpet with Johan Hill, we’d all be thinking she could do so much better.

Well, I love a BIG and TALL man!! I love the sheer strength of a man!! As a big sexy girl I want to know that the man I’m with can protect me!! It’s a plus if he can pick me up!! YES!!

That said, we all have our prefernces. I don’t think it has anything to do with size acceptance, it’s just a preference. This post is the opinion of one woman, not ALL WOMEN! I like big men, she likes lean men. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, isn’t it???

Yes i believe we r in a size acceptance society, but if u dress sexy and confident i believe u can overcome the stereo typing. i myself am a plus size woman I carry myself proud and take pride in my appearance. am a grandmother of 5 and so proud of it. its hard to afford nice clothes and they cost more but if u do the best u can and show ure confidence it works. I think the ladies who don’t take pride r the ones who give us the stereo typing. my motto is im a pleasure to know and a treasure to have and that should be enough for the right man. lynn

Sex is the ultimate personal thing, you shouldn’t feel guilty about who you find attractive, the same way you don’t feel guilty about preferring men over women or vice-versa. You do not sound like you did not respect this guy, just did not find him attractive. And though we do owe each other respect regardless of size, gender, fitness level, etc… we certainly DO NOT owe each other love, romance or sex. Go with what you feel!

I think it’s a preference just like hair color, eye color is a preference. I like men who are on the bigger side of average. I don’t find thin men attractive, even if they are thin and healthy. I like some meat.
