Ladies, I have been holding back too long. If I don’t say something about women who wear the wrong size in bras and everything else, I think I might just “bust.” The female revolution in the ‘60s was all about burning your bra. Today, ladies, we have to get back into the bra…one that fits!
Nowadays you can go into just about any department store or specialty foundation shop and get a bra fitting. You can even do it yourself if you are brave enough to pull out that tape measure and not close your eyes. Why, then, are so many of us wearing the wrong bra size? I’m sorry, but 85% is w-a-a-y too much. Did you not see that Oprah episode on the proper “fits” for the…you know?
If your bra is too big to begin with, or it’s all old and stretched out, then your “girls” will be too low. If your bra is too tight around, or the cup size isn’t big enough, then they’ll look like quadruplets instead of twins. And don’t even tell me about your stash of safety pins for your straps—no, you didn’t!
Now, let’s talk about everywhere else. It doesn’t matter if you’re big on top and tiny in the tush, or if you got a thick waist tapering down to skinny legs and all. Whether it’s plus size lingerie, pants, a skirt, or a blouse the right size matters.
Take a good look at yourself, not the Natalie Portman you wanna be in six months or the “you” that you were five years ago before you went all Fantasia. Ladies, listen to what I’m sayin’: Dress your body for the size you are now!
It’s not a crime to go up a size to make sure something fits you. We may not want to do that, but sometimes we have to. On the other hand, we all know that a size 12 in one article of clothing does not necessarily fit the exact same as it does in another. It depends on cut, fabric, garment type and label. Whether you’re shopping in a store, or you’re ordering online, I can just about guarantee that the fit will be different. It’s all trial and error, emphasis on the “trial”—meaning you have to try it on and make sure it fits.
Please, please, please, let’s do this! You know I’m sayin’ this outta love. It’s essential that we look truly fabulous just as we are now.
And remember, no matter what our size is, we’re all beautiful, we’re all sexy, and we’re all amazing!
